Apply now for ABH’s 8th Public Health Advocacy Fellowship Cohort
“This fellowship meant so much not only to my learning but also to my sense of purpose and mental health while in medical school.”
Are you a Minnesota-based graduate student in health sciences who’s passionate about health equity and ready to make a difference? ABH’s Public Health Advocacy Fellowship is now accepting applications for it’s 8th cohort!
Launched in 2018 as an experiential program for medical students, the ABH Fellowship expanded to an interdisciplinary cohort in 2024 because real change requires all of us. Through learning in small cohorts, connecting with like-minded peers, and interacting with local stakeholders, students engage in the process of community-based advocacy, public policy, systemic change, and turning passion for a specific issue into action.
During the program year, students build their advocacy skills through three main program components:
Skills training in legislative advocacy, coalition building, and communications led by ABH staff,
Mentoring from an experienced advocate aligned with your interests, and
Real-world advocacy experiences such as meeting with elected officials, working with community leaders, or publishing an op-ed.
The 2025-26 Fellowship cohort will begin in August 2025 and conclude in April 2026. We plan to accept up to 15 graduate-level health science students enrolled in Medical, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health or Healthcare Administration. Applications are due by 11:59pm on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
