ABH Public Health Advocacy Fellowship

Celebrating Five Years of Equipping Future Physicians to be Advocates for Better Health

ABH believes physician advocates play an important role in improving public health and building healthy communities. Our one-of-a-kind Public Health Advocacy Fellowship is based in advocacy for the real world. ABH’s Fellowship brings together three elements to create a well-rounded toolkit of advocacy skills: skills training, physician mentorship, and hands-on advocacy experience.

Since 2019,
117 Medical Student Fellows from Twin Cities and Duluth campuses trained
73 Physician Mentors from across the state connected

Now, you can support the continuation of this innovative program.
Our goal is to raise $7,500 by August 15, 2023.

What Fellowship Alumni Are Saying

“Having this experience makes me more confident to advocate for various public health causes that I believe in as a future physician. I have realized how important it is to be an advocate and how my perspective will be taken seriously by many law makers and leaders.”

— 2022-2023 Fellow

“I was able to get my mentee involved with a community group on a project I've been wanting to work on. It was incredible to see her step into a leadership role and I'm so glad to have gained a colleague in this space.”

— 2019-2020 Mentor

“The biggest thing was the understanding that it doesn’t have to be ‘I’m an advocate or a doctor’ - it can be both. [It was] the understanding that I can use the power I have now to show up in little ways. I can do little things and have those little things make a difference in the overall picture.”
